You’re Mowing Down Free Food and Medicine Every Week — I Can Show You What to Keep
Your New England backyard has anywhere from 3 to 25 edible wild plants growing in it right now—but you’ve probably been calling them weeds (maybe even dumping Roundup on them).
We’ll walk your property together while I show you exactly what’s edible, what’s
medicinal, and what’ll make you sick. No nonsense—just straight answers about what
you can actually eat.
Private foraging walks in Connecticut and Rhode Island include:
- Every edible and medicinal plant on YOUR property identified (no generic plant walk BS)
- Which “weeds” have more nutrients than the stuff you’re buying at that health food store
- How to harvest without killing the plant or poisoning yourself
- We don’t just forage—I show you what to do with it! We make a recipe and some herbal medicine in your own kitchen together
I’ve been doing this since 2006 and have taught hundreds of people who were tired of
pretending dandelions are just lawn problems. Most people are shocked at how much
free food they’ve been destroying.
“Amelia did a nature walk at my parents house this past spring and it was amazing! She is so knowledgeable of the local plants and how to holistically use them in day-to-day life.”
—Taylor L.

Private Property Walk packages include your very own workbook with some of the most common plants we usually find already included.
Private Foraging Walk Options
Whether you have property in Connecticut, Rhode Island, there’s an option for you. By the end of your foraging class, you’ll understand how to identify and sustainably work with the plants we find.
- Local Walk — Best for small properties
Perfect for a backyard deep-dive or a small group of curious neighbors who want to know what’s actually growing in their neighborhood. We walk, we identify, and you get questions answered. Simple and informal.
- Small Group Walk — Most popular
Ideal for a small gathering — friends, family, or a homestead crew. We cover your property, identify everything edible and medicinal, and finish with a demo where I teach you exactly what to do with what we found.
👉 Within a 1-hour drive.
- Large Group Walk — Great for larger properties & bigger groups
This is the full experience. More people, more ground covered, more questions answered — and still completely personalized to your land. I bring supplies to make a recipe and a tincture so everyone goes home with something they made themselves. I also bring my books and products if you want to keep the learning going after I leave.
👉 Within a 1-hour drive.
- Homeschool Groups — Because kids learn by doing
Kids are great foragers — they’re curious and ask all the best questions. This is hands-on, age-appropriate, and educational in a way that no classroom can replicate. Reach out and we’ll figure out the logistics together.
- Something Else?
Got a huge group, a corporate event, a community organization, or a situation that doesn’t fit neatly into any of these boxes?

I’m happy to work with larger groups and unusual requests. Just tell me what you’re thinking.
Note: I’m happy to travel outside my usual area—just note there’s a small $25/hour travel fee for locations over an hour away.
During the foraging hike, you’ll learn to identify and sustainably harvest the herbs and edibles we find along the way. Afterwards, we’ll make food or medicine with the plants we harvested!
The best way to host a Foraging and Medicine Making Workshop is by having a kitchen (indoor or outdoor) or other space available. That way, I can set up a few tools to create something—tea, pesto, vinegar, or make small after-hike meal.
The best time for a walk is anywhere from early April through mid November, with peak foraging season being mid to late spring time.
Why Sign Up for a Private Foraging Walk?
The short answer? Because you’re tired of being dependent on grocery stores for plants that literally grow free in your yard.
Here’s the longer answer…
When most people finish one of my foraging walks, they immediately see their home differently…
That weed problem…?
It’s not a problem…it is food and medicine that you’ve been destroying.
Here’s what’ll happen:
- You’ll stop wasting money. Those bitter greens you’re buying at the organic store are growing in your lawn. For free – and have more nutrients.
- You’ll know what to do in your own kitchen. More than just plant identification, we can make something useful—like pesto, tea, or tincture.
- Your land becomes useful. Instead of the constant fight with the “weeds,” I’ll teach you to work with them, for less mowing, fewer chemicals, and more eating.
- No more guessing or Googling. I’ve helped hundreds of people just like you get straight answers about what’s safe, what isn’t, and how to harvest wild herbs and greens sustainably.
Here’s the thing: I’m one of only 4-5 professional foraging instructors in the region…and the only one who will actually come to your property to teach you in person. While others do generic group walks with 30, 40, or even 50 people, you and up to 9 of your friends get an unforgettable, in-person, hands-on lesson that leaves you feeling confident in your new skills.
You see, this is how learning sticks—when it’s your land, your plants, and your kitchen.
Worth more than any CSA box, this knowledge gives you the foundation you need.
