All of Black Sun Farm’s infused topical oils and salves are made with Wild Groves olive oil, produced in Newcastle, CA. The beeswax I use comes from the United States and if I need to use vodka for some reason, I use a brand that was produced in the USA as well. Almost all the herbs I work with are wildcrafted by me or grown here on my farm and harvested by my hands, excepting the few occasions when I run out.
These products are American made, through and through.
What do my products do?
As with ANY new product, I recommend you start with a smaller dose and work your way up to more. Anyone is capable of having an allergic reaction to ANYTHING, so use caution. All oils and salves are for topical application only.
Because I’m limited as to what I can say on a product label, I’d like to clarify some details here.
Birch Oil- Birch oil is made with the bark from betula lenta, or black birch. Black birch contains a powerful analgesic (pain killer) called betulinic acid, which is similar to salicylic acid, the main medicinal component of aspirin. This oil is applied topically to the area of pain and a small amount goes a long way! I have tinctured it to be taken orally as well, but my favorite preparation is this topical infusion. Just rub a few drops on top of the skin over a spot that hurts (arthritis, sciatica, or whatever) and in my experience it takes less than one minute to feel relief. Please understand that neither this nor any herbal remedy is meant to be slathered all over your whole body or rubbed on in mass quantities daily. Over-application of any product can potentially be toxic over time. Keep Away from Dogs! Birch contains natural Xylitol which is toxic to dogs. Do Not Use this product if you are allergic to salicylates.

Witch Hazel Extract- I wildcraft witch hazel bark mostly in late fall when it flowers, the ideal time for its strongest medicinal value. Witch hazel can be applied topically to help itchy skin, help reduce hemorrhoids, and is a fantastic astringent facial toner. I wash my face with it every morning! The dark color is natural as I do an extraction rather than a hydrosol like you see in the stuff at the grocery store. The extracted witch hazel is higher in tannins and therefore acts a bit more strong in its astringent action. This helps reduce zits and boils really well!

“I bought some witch hazel from Amelia. The day it came in the mail I soaked a cotton ball in it and stuck it in my ear (the infection was not internal). I left it for about 2 hours. Comfrey Oil- I grow lots of comfrey here on my small farm! This plant is well-known to help heal bruises and sprains, and I have plenty of personal experience using the infused oil to heal my own injuries. This is meant to be applied topically for up to 4 weeks consecutively and supports the body’s ability to heal internal injuries by soaking through the skin. It has been known to decrease the healing time of broken bones as well.

Injury Salve- This salve contains one of my favorite herbs: comfrey. Comfrey has helped reduce the healing time of bruises and broken bones for millennia and has for me personally healed a sprained ankle on more than one occasion! Comfrey has a troubled history, because in the 1960s it was discovered to contain pyrrolizidine alkaloids, which if taken internally over time can cause permanent liver damage. For that reason, I prefer working with comfrey topically, and it’s almost always the leaf rather than the much stronger roots. There is plenty of amazing medicine in the leaves though! It’s safe to apply comfrey topically for up to 2 months, which is way longer than you will need it since it works so well. I also added my wonderful Birch oil to help the pain of your injury as well as Solomon’s Seal root infused oil, which is specific for healing tendon injuries, spinal problems, and tendonitis. To be safe, my recommendation is this salve should not be applied to the same area of your body for more than 6 weeks consecutively.

Wonderful salve
“My most used item. Works well. Used on two knuckles I thought I broke or at least bruised or fractured the bone on a Thursday night at work. Immediately started swelling and turning purple. Used consistently few times a day, by Monday i had no bruising and very minimal swelling lasted a day or two. The joints still bother me a little a month or more out with direct pressure. All-Purpose Salve- This salve helps soothe bug bites, rashes, heal small cuts or wounds, and relieve itchy skin. It can help with poison ivy rash, it soothes a bee sting super quickly, and it all around something you want to carry with you if you have small kids who are prone to accidents.

Anti-aging Oil to the rescue!
