There is a time and a place for each and every different medicinal preparation. Each remedy can be helpful for multiple reasons.
Tea is excellent and my preferred method for healing upset stomach, digestive problems, stomach flu, or simply to warm a body up in cool weather.
Flower essences are super helpful at changing your attitude and can be taken safely by children, pregnant women, and adults alike.
Syrups and elixirs are helpful for those who need deep healing but aren’t willing to ingest something with an unpleasant flavor (like kids.)
But tinctures are my favorite! Why? They work quickly and efficiently.

Back before I knew diddly squat about herbal medicine, if I got a headache, I would usually reach for 3 or 4 capsules of ibuprofen or a couple of Excedrin (a combination of Tylenol and aspirin well-known here in the U.S.) Ibuprofen was great for whenever I hurt myself and was sore all over or if I had a bad fever and I needed it gone so I could go to school.
Now I know better! Not only is the repeated use of both those medications linked with serious liver damage, but ibuprofen alone accounts for creating stomach ulcers! I had an ulcer once. It’s THE WORST.
Why would I want to take over the counter or even prescribed pain killing medication when nature’s pharmacy is right outside in my yard?
Birch and willow both contain natural salicylates, which reduce pain when taken in appropriate amounts. The thing is, when I make a preparation with either of these I am utilizing the WHOLE PLANT. So I’m not just extracting the salicylic (or betulinic) acid, I’m also getting the inflammation-modulating tannins, and diaphoretic (fever-reducing) properties of the plant itself.
Where aspirin isolates and amplifies the action of one single constituent, making a tincture or other herbal preparation extracts ALL of the plant’s medicinal qualities.
Not only that, but when you take a capsule of aspirin or ibuprofen, it takes at least 30 minutes to kick in. The capsule has to be broken down by your stomach acid and slowly absorbed through the mucous membranes in your digestive tract before it finally gets into your blood stream and starts acting on your pain receptors.
When you put a dose of tincture under your tongue (especially if it’s made with a herb or combination of herbs that act quickly on your system, such as wild lettuce for pain, mullein for a cough, or stinging nettle for an allergic reaction) the medicine is absorbed through the mucosa under your tongue and start taking effect in your body almost immediately.
If I’m having trouble breathing and a take a dropper or two of usnea tincture, within 2 minutes at the most I am able to take a much-needed long, deep breath. When I get stung by a bee, I immediately put some plantain on it and then rush inside to grab a dose of my Allergy Sinus tincture (made with stinging nettle, goldenrod, mullein leaf, ground ivy, pineapple core, and licorice root) and it stops my body from reacting to the bee sting. (Note: this is not a replacement for an epi-pen! My personal allergic reaction to bee stings is mild and causes me to get dizzy and faint, it does not stop my breathing.)
I understand that not everyone all over the country has access to the same plants as I do. That’s why I make my herbal remedies. Please note: All Tinctures are made with alcohol. Any other preparation is NOT a tincture.
I MUCH prefer talking with a customer or client first, helping them assess whether they need one of my remedies and which one would be best for their needs, before selling them something. But that can’t always be the case. Especially not when I’m trying to run a business.

As I said, every preparation has its appropriate time and place. I can help you decide which remedies are right for you with a One-on-One Consultation. I’m currently working on devising a follow-up system or a short program (probably 6 weeks) that you can sign up for to get both a Consultation AND a series of check-ins and personal help to keep you on track and get you on a successful path to health. Comment below if that interests you!
I grow a lot of herbs here on my small farm, and I forage many more out in the wild. I create handcrafted herbal remedy blends with these regularly to help support my clients and customers on their healing journey. I will never sell a remedy that I’m not willing to take myself! I have very high standards for what I will and will not put into my body as far as food or medicine goes.
All my remedies are sold in my Online Shop.
Now remember, a few months ago, I created a Tincture Club for people to join. This is because my operation is not FDA-approved or inspected and I need you to sign a waiver accepting the risk that you could potentially either have an unforeseen allergic reaction to one of my remedies, it could give you an upset tummy, or it could possibly just not work for you. I’m hoping none of those happen, but it’s a potential risk with any new remedy you take.
How Tincture Club works
You pay $25 to join my Tincture Club. You immediately receive an email with the passcode to get in to buy tinctures. Attached to that email is the waiver form. You have 30 days to sign and return it to me. You’re essentially paying me $25 a year to be part of an exclusive club where you get access to incredibly high-quality and strong herbal tinctures that WORK.
I email the members now and again with special offers, and as a member, you are absolutely entitled to email me any time to ask questions about a product or ask me if I can create a blend just for you to help with your needs. I offer a free 15 minute Consultation to members as well, so I can help point them in the right direction once they join if they need guidance.
I LOVE helping people heal and I LOVE creating handcrafted herbal remedies just for you! I am here to help you heal in any capacity I have. I thank you for your trust and support and I hope to continue helping you for years to come.
